Mike Sandbothe

Mike Sandbothe (* 1961) is a German intellectual and philosopher living in Hamburg with his wife and daughter. He is co-founder of the new branch of media philosophy and one of the main proponents of philosophical pragmatism in Europe. He held professorships for Media Culture Studies at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (Germany) as well as for Media Philosophy at University of Fine Arts Berlin (Germany) and at Aalborg University Copenhagen (Denmark). Currently he is working as a prolific author and cultural political advisor with various cultural political organizations such as Archiv der Zukunft in Hamburg or Nomad Academy in Copenhagen. In winter semester 2011/2012 he teaches as Professor of Culture and Media at the University of Applied Science in Jena (Germany). Among his various English publications are The Temporalization of Time (2001; German 1998), The Pragmatic Turn (2004), Pragmatic Media Philosophy (2005; in German: 2001), and Form Pragmatist Philosophy to Cultural Politics (2012). His most recent work deals with the topics "Body Based Learning", "Spiritual Education", "Climate Change Culture", and "Pragmatism as Cultural Politics".
